Earlier today (February 23, 2021), ZTE unveiled its second generation of camera technology shown below at the MWC Shanghai 2021 event. This is the successor to the first company under display camera technology and comes with various improvements.
For those unaware, the Mobile World Congress is a major event attended by various technology giants to present their new and innovative technology. Currently, various companies have announced their breakthrough in fields such as 5G, artificial intelligence, smart home, smart travel and other innovations. ZTE also held a conference at the event and unveiled its second-generation display technology under the camera display. The first device to have a new type of screen was the Axon 20 5G, which was launched last year.
Since then, the company has improved on new display technology, and one of the primary upgrades is the pixel density in the camera area. While the first iteration arrived with a pixel density of 200 pixels, the second generation display has a pixel density of 400 pixels per second. In other words, the screen will be able to display sharper and clearer images. In addition, the company also aimed to achieve more consistent display performance on the main screen.
Another significant improvement is the panel refresh rate, as the new screen has a refresh rate of 120 Hz. This is more than 90Hz displayed in the first generation of ZTE’s display technologies. During the event, the company also demonstrated the world’s first 3D structured light technology under a screen. This will enable 3D face recognition and live detection, which is better than the various existing 2D solutions. So, it is currently one of the most powerful and secure biometric technologies that can also be used for 3D modeling, augmented reality and other applications.
