Wyatt Russell about being America’s new captain and working with Marvel

When Wyatt Russell was chosen as John Walker in the Disney + series Falcon and winter soldier he had no idea what the fans ’reaction would be to his character, what it would be like to work with some of the fans’ favorite actors and be part of the long-awaited Phase 4 Marvel Cinematic Universe.

After sitting down with Russell to talk about this and more, it’s clear that his future with Marvel is bright as his character continues to be revealed every week throughout the series. During the first episode of the show, Russell was revealed to be the new government captain of America, John Walker. He held a shield that once belonged to Steve Rogers and proudly wore a uniform that evoked a sense of hope for people around the Marvel world.

As the show progressed, Russell had encounters with Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, played by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. On screen, the dynamic duo Falcon and Winter Soldier don’t get along very well with Walker, but off-screen it’s a whole other story. “They are such wonderful people. They care that the show is good. You know, they were like, always there for you. They did all the right things to try to make a great show. Working with them made me feel really happy. said Russell.

The set days can be long and the job can be difficult, but Russell continued to show support to his teammates as they did to him. “With Anthony, you understand best that there is no boring moment on the set. You’re going to do a Marvel show with someone who’s in charge, I feel like I just got lucky because Anthony is just a good person, ”Russell explained.

The show is directed by Kari Skogland, who also worked on it Tower of cards,, The walking dead, i The story of the maid. Skogland praised Russell in previous interviews as a “great performer,” and Russell in turn gave several compliments to Skogland saying “it was a real dream to work with him”.

Wyatt is not the first Russell to be involved in the Marvel project. His father Kurt Russell played Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume II. Although their experiences were different, Kurt gave his son some advice on one thing, “Apart from sharing the fact that it was very difficult to get in and out of the costumes, our experiences were different,” Russell shared.

Russell’s character has been turned into viral memes and has received some harsh reactions from Marvel believers, but Russell doesn’t seem to mind. He is not concerned with telling fans what to think of his or any other character. He shared, “I hope people will be able to watch it, enjoy it and make them think. You can think whatever you want about my character. I hope this will remind you that you are, you know, a human being and looking at things makes you feel like it doesn’t matter what you feel. “
