Uncertainty: Canada warns its citizens in Nigeria

Canada has issued a holiday safety warning to its citizens planning to travel to Nigeria.

The North American country in a new security alert posted on its website warned its citizens that security in that country is unpredictable.

He called on them to be “highly cautious” in Abuja, Calabar and the state of Lagos.

The warning states: “Avoid irrelevant travel to Nigeria due to the unpredictable security situation throughout the country and the significant risk of terrorism, crime, inter-communal conflicts, armed attacks and kidnappings.

“Regional risk level – Avoid all travel

“Avoid all travel to the following regions because of the risk of terrorism, armed attacks, kidnapping, inter-municipal and sectarian violence:

He also pointed out several countries that should be avoided in Nigeria, because they are probably targets for armed attacks, kidnapping, among others.

”The northwestern states of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara, the north-central state of the Plateau State.

”The northeastern states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa and Yobe.

“The Niger Delta lists the states of Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayels, Delta, Imo and Rijeka (with the exception of the capital of Rijeka, Port Harcourt, where we do not recommend trivial trips).”
