Galatasaray have signed Gedson Fernandes on a six-month loan deal after the Benfica midfielder’s loan at Tottenham was terminated.
The midfielder joined the Spurs last January on an 18-month loan with a buyout option for £ 42.76m (£ 50m), but never started a Premier League game for the club.
Fernandes returned a positive Covid-19 result, and reports in Turkey say he traveled by ambulance for that reason.
Heavenly sports news reported earlier in January that Fernandez’s parent club Benfica wanted to reduce the midfielder’s loan in north London.
He has made two appearances so far, one in the Carabao Cup win in the fourth round over Chelsea last September and one in the FA Cup in a 5-0 win against Marine in the third round earlier this month.
The midfielder fought during the game amid fierce competition for places in midfielder Jose Mourinho, while Tanguy Ndombele, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Harry Winks and Giovani Lo Celso were favored for the selection.
Galatasaray has also signed Newcastle defender DeAndre Yedlin to a permanent job.
The American international, whose contract at St James Park was due to expire in the summer, traveled to Turkey for treatment over the weekend.
Mourinho was asked about Gedson in January, saying Sky Sports: “The situation is sad because he was off the Europa League list.
Danny Rose will also not be joining Trabzonspor on Deadline Day and should spend the rest of the season at Tottenham.
