The donation of N50 million victims of the fire in the central market of Katsina by the head of the Congress of All Progressives Bol Tinubu raised dust on social networks, and many Nigerians criticized the former governor of the state of Lagos, while his supporters also defended him.
Reno Omokri, a former aide to former Goodluck president Jonathan on social media, cursed Tinubu for donating a huge amount to fire victims at Katsina Market, while allegedly ignoring affected traders at Shasha Market in Ibadan, Oyo State; and other markets recently compared in Lagos and the Southwest.
PUNCH reported earlier that no less than 700 shops and stalls were razed on Monday morning, which ravaged Katsina Central Market.

Billions of naira goods were also burned and stolen in the robbery that followed the unfortunate incident.
Tinubu was in Katsina on Wednesday where he was received by Governor Aminu Masari. The governor bypassed the APC’s belly and pledged to help traders with the N50m.
However, the head of the APC has since come under fire from social networks. Katsina is the home state of the president, Major General Muhammad Buhari (withdrawn), and many have linked Tinubu’s donation to his rumor about the 2023 presidential ambition.

“Interesting! I thought they were saying that charities start at home!” Said @ Samuelohalete1.
@EAshayi stated, “Good move. However, charities are said to start at home. The man thinks that he is seeking the approval of the North, considering his political ambitions. ”
But some supporters of the APC chief have since defended his generous action, saying he has promoted unity.

On Facebook, Oloyede Ismaila wrote, “At the time (Nyesom) Wike donated N500m of River State Funds to the victims of the Sokoto fire, you hypocrites said nothing, but now that you’ve donated Tinubu to the Katsin fire victims, you’ve started making noise.”
“Anyone can spend their money as they wish,” Adeyeye Abiodun offered.
Another user, Omoge Sunday, is of the opinion that Tinubu should strike a balance in his generous gestures.
“He knows how he earned it and he has an absolute right to the way the money should be spent. However, he should learn to please God, not to please people, “Sunday wrote.
