Lagos State Police Command operatives have arrested three community leaders in the Ikotun state area for lynching a suspected burglar.
Arrested community leaders include Sakariyau Biliaminu, m, 66; John Adeyemi, m, 77; and Gabriel Ajayi, m, 55, said public relations police officer Muyiwa Adejobi on Thursday.
The statement was titled: ‘Justice in the Jungle: Lagos Police Arrest 3 Community Leaders for Murder, Vow to Stop Justice in the Jungle’.
According to the PPRO, the three suspects have to answer several questions related to the murder of the suspect.
Adejobi said, “A burglar entered the room of one Mrs. Adeyemi Opeyemi, f, no. 2, bus station Asalu, next to the road Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos in an attempt to rob her, but she raised the alarm and the burglar fled in the street, when some members of the community caught him and beat him to death. “
He said the state police commissioner, CP Hakeem Odumosu, had condemned the act of justice in the jungle being weighed on the suspect and promised to strike a blow against them in the state.
Odumosu reportedly said that justice in the jungle is becoming greater and greater and is so detrimental to collective efforts to improve the state’s criminal justice system.
