Following a violation of its decision to close recreational sites in the territory, the Federal Administration of the FCTA Capital Territories on Friday cleared some amusement park parks that entered them as part of the Christmas celebrations.
Some of the parks to which entertainment seekers were sent by the FCT Ministerial Enforcement Taskteam on COVID-19 Restrictions include the popular Millennium Park, Lake Jabi, the Fountain of Unity and the Magic Land.
Although the gates on Lake Jabi were closed, some anxious fun seekers entered the park through some porous entry points.
Upon arrival at the lake, many offenders rose to their heels for fear of being arrested, but the Working Group had to urge them to sensitize them about the need to comply with safety regulations.
Head, Media and Enlightenment Working Group, Mr. Addressing the party seekers, Ikharo Attah noted that “this second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic seems difficult and we cannot allow people to gather in crowds contrary to government directives.”
“We know you all want to enjoy Christmas, but you can do it at home. We ask for your understanding on this issue. We do not want to hurt anyone, but we have a duty to save residents from being infected with the virus, ”he said.
Addressing reporters after the closure of Magic Land Park next to the city gate of Abuja, Attah expressed sympathy for the residents, but said there would be more celebrations in the future if they adhered to security protocol.
He said; “It really hurts us to do this today, but we have a responsibility to save lives and protect FCT residents from catching COVID-19. In large numbers we see children who came to these recreation centers to have the best time at Christmas. They look obviously unhappy, and we feel their pain and disappointment. There will be many Christmases, but please don’t let many more come for this Christmas ruin. “
