Deathloop was postponed again, with Exclusive Arkane timed PS5 console moving from its previous release date on May 21 to the fall edition on September 14. The news marks another major delay Deathloop, which was originally scheduled to come out in the 2020 holiday season along with the then newly released PS5.
As with the earlier delay, Arkane’s Lyon studio is once again referring to delays related to COVID-19, with increased developmental difficulties as it works to ensure “the health and safety of all in Arkane”.
Deathloop is the latest title from Arkane ‘s studio in Lyon, best known for Disgraced franchise and restart Booty from 2017. Players take on the role of Colt, an assassin stuck in a time loop who must fight by assassinating his eight targets using a variety of weapons and mystical powers – as long as they are chased by rival assassin Julianna (who can be controlled by other players via the Internet).
As the exclusive title of the new generation, Deathloop should only be released on the PlayStation 5 (for a one-year exclusivity period) and PC – despite the fact that publisher Bethesda is now owned by Microsoft. That’s what Xbox studio boss Phil Spencer said Bloomberg back in September that they will continue to stick to that time exclusivity for both Deathloop i GhostWire: Tokyo. That so, with the current delay, Xbox owners will wait even longer before they can head for Blackreef.
