The new Alexa Voice Remote adds buttons for streaming services

(Pocket-lint) – You can now pre-order Amazon’s third-generation Alexa Voice Remote, which includes new keys.

Much like Rock’s Voice Remote for $ 40 features buttons at the bottom that provide direct access to streaming services, Amazon’s new remote includes buttons that will take you to Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney + and Hulu apps. If you subscribe and use these four transfer services regularly, you may want to upgrade to a new remote control. By the way, it’s not such a big deal.

Critics will argue that Amazon should offer mapping buttons that you can program to the services and features you use most often. But, honestly, we don’t mind the new application buttons. Millions of people use all four streaming services, including us, so they are not an inconvenience. In addition, they are located in a place that is easy to ignore. Admittedly, we often don’t use the ones on our Roku remote control.

After all, these are voice-controlled remote controls, so the most natural way to open an app is by pressing a microphone button and looking for just that.

Amazon’s new Alexa Voice Remote costs $ 30 on Amazon and is available for pre-order in the US. It is compatible with Fire TV Stick Lite, Fire TV Stick (second generation and newer), Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Cube (first and later generation) and Fire TV (third generation).

Does not work with Fire TV Edition smart TVs.
