The goal of the Motorola Moto G line has always been to offer the best possible specifications at an affordable price. Over the years, we’ve gotten used to a solid mid-range offering, but now we’ve got a more exciting addition – get into the Moto G100. In fact, we’ve seen this phone before – it’s the Motorola Edge S released in China just two months ago.
Moto G100 in Iridescent Sky and Iridescent Ocean
With its 6.7-inch IPS LCD and 90 Hz refresh rate, the Moto G100 delivers a spacious and smooth viewing experience. The panel has FHD + resolution and is also HDR10 certified. You get not one but two selfie cameras with a 16MP main unit and an ultra-wide 8MP module that helps you frame more of your friends.
Another key selling point of the G100 is under the hood where we find the Snapdragon 870 chipset. This is by far the most capable chip on the Moto G phone and should bring flagship performance. There’s 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage which is further expandable through a microSD slot.
On the back, the Moto G100 has a primary 64MP camera with f / 1.7 aperture and 1/2 “sensor (0.7μm pixel size). It is accompanied by an ultra-wide 16MP sensor with an LED ring flash that also serves as a macro camera for several interesting close-up shots. The remaining modules are a 2MP fixed focus depth assistant and a ToF module for fast laser autofocus.
The front of the software is covered by Motorola’s My UX model, which is on top of Android 11. The top addition is the “Ready For” platform that delivers a desktop-like interface once connected to an external monitor or TV. Motorola also brings a docking station that helps keep the phone charged and connected, and it also has a built-in cooling fan that maintains thermal control.
The specification is rounded off by a 5,000 mAh battery with 20W fast charging, 3.5 headphone jack and NFC connection. The phone also boasts a water-repellent coating even though it doesn’t have an official IP rating.
The Moto G100 comes in Iridescent Sky, Iridescent Ocean and Slate Gray. From today, it will be available in European and selected Latin American markets.
