The Masari government is signing the budget law for N216.6 billion for 2021
Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State

Guv. Amina Masari from the state of Katsina signed on Wednesday the state budget of 2021.6 billion N216 for the state for 2021.

Accepting the budget for 2021 in Katsina, Masari praised the National Assembly for its quick adoption.

He assured the residents of the state of the commitment of his administration to improve their living conditions and called for their continued support.

The governor called on the residents of the state to continue to pray to Almighty Allah to stop the security challenges that harm the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that on November 18, the Governor presented to the State House of the Assembly for consideration the account of appropriation of N282.7 billion for the fiscal year 2021.

The amount of N86.6 billion, representing 30 percent of the budget, was earmarked for current expenditures, while N196.1 billion, representing 70 percent, was earmarked for capital spending.

Presenting the budget for the consent of the governor, the president of the State House of the Assembly, Alhaji Tasiu Musa-Maigari, said that the house increased the budget by N3.8 billion.

“After legislative processes such as public debate, discussions with stakeholders and civil society organizations, as well as the defense of the budget by the MDA, the budget was reviewed upwards in the amount of N286.6 billion,” he said.

Musa-Maigari said that after the budget revision upwards, N197.1 billion, which represents 69.05 percent, would go to capital expenditures, while current expenditures amounted to N88.7 billion, which represents 35.9 percent.

He promised that the assembly would continue to work harmoniously with the executive in order to provide good governance to the people of the state.

He called on ministries, departments and agencies (MDA) dealing with revenue collection to step up efforts to increase internally generated revenue (IGR).

The speaker stressed that strengthening the IGR will greatly help reduce the state government’s over-reliance on the Federation’s account in providing services to the people.

Musa-Maigari, therefore, called on the people of the state to continue to pray for Almighty Allah to intervene in the insecurity that kills the state.
