ABC’s hit comedy The Goldbergs paid tribute to their beloved star George Segal in Wednesday’s new episode, which was his last.

The actor passed away at the age of 87 just over two weeks ago in Santa Rosa, California, after complications from a bypass operation.

The show aired a special video tribute to the actor who played Albert ‘Pops’ Solomon in the show, while some of the show’s stars paid tribute on social media.

The Goldbergs usually end each episode with return footage of the family of series creator Adam F. Goldberg, which he filmed as a child, although the episode honored Segal on Wednesday.

Honor, which is divided Goldberg’s Twitter after the episode aired, he began with “Dedicated to Our Friend, George.”

The video showed footage of Segal combing and spraying a little Binaca in his mouth before he danced a little.

“If you just believe in yourself like I do, you can’t lose,” he says, while the back cover card reads, “We’ll miss you, George,” as the video ends.

Wendi McLendon-Covey, who played matriarch Goldberg and Pops ’daughter Beverly, also shared the tribute to Segal on Twitter.

‘Tonight’s episode was the last that George filmed, but not the last in our season. At the time we filmed him, we had no idea that he would be the last with him, ‘she said.

McLendon-Covey added in another tweet: ‘We had so much fun filming this episode and George was still a game for anything. Always a complete professional and a pleasure to be around! # TheGoldbergs. ‘

Hayley Orrantia, who plays Eric Goldberg in the series, reweeted the video message adding, ‘We miss you so much.’

Series creator Adam F. Goldberg also quoted and forwarded another McLendon-Covey tweet where he made it clear that he will NEVER replace George in the role of Pops. If we get season 9, then we’ll get it over with. ‘

Goldberg added in his retweet with a quote: ‘Tonight is George’s last episode. Fans ask what is planned for Pops. Although my contribution and stories have not been used this season, I know the way to deal with this loss is to take advantage of my real experience of losing my grandfather in honor of George and my dads. I hope I welcome the S9! #JTP ‘

Goldberg left the position of show candidate for The Goldberg, which he created and is based on his childhood experiences with his family, after the 6th season.

Goldberg screenwriters and producers Chris Bishop and Alex Barnow have been named top champions starting season 7 and the current eighth season.

ABC has not yet addressed the fate of the Goldbergs, and it is unclear whether it will return in the ninth season.
