The FEC approves N44.5 billion for FCT, roads and energy projects

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved projects worth N44.5 billion for various contracts under the Ministries of the Federal Capital (FCT), Works and Housing and Electricity.

This was revealed to State House correspondents after a weekly virtual meeting of the FEC, chaired by President Muhammadu Bukhari at the Aso Rock presidential villa, Abuja.

Addressing reporters after the meeting, the ministers, led by Information and Culture Minister Alhaji Lai Mohammed, discussed projects in different parts of the country, including the FCT.

FCT Minister Mohammed Bello said the Council had approved contracts for water and road purification projects in the territory, amounting to N31, 630,221,349.

He said that the approval was given for road contracts in favor of reviewing some roads in the territory upwards.

“The Federal Executive Council approved the award of a contract for the procurement of field materials (ALUM and chlorine gas) for water purification by the Water Committee of the Federal Territory of the capital, Ms. Gojac Nigeria Limited in the amount of N627,600 and Mudpha Nigeria Limited to N200,000. The completion period is 12 months.

It also approved a request to review the amount of contracts for the completion of roads B6, B12 and the Ring Road, Central District, Abuja – Revised Estimated Total Coating (RETC) no. 2, assigned to Mr. Julius Berger, Nigeria Plc.

“Reviewed from the old contract amount N66, 831,381,123.49 to additional review N31, 629,393,749.87 upwards. The new revised contract amount is N98, 460,774,862.36, ”he said.

Also speaking at the briefing, Labor and Housing Minister Babatunde Fasola (SAN) said his ministry, on behalf of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), had submitted a memorandum on various overhauls in different parts of the country.

According to him, the projects amount to N8, 180,948,137.50.

“The Ministry of Labor and Housing presented the memorandum on behalf of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA). This was for overhauls, emergency repairs and road maintenance and critical interventions on 10 roads in different parts of Nigeria.

“One is the maintenance of the Ikot Ekpene-Itu road in Akwa Ibom, the repair and maintenance of the Onitsha-Aguleri-Adani road in Anambra state, the general maintenance of the Nasarawa-Toto-Abaji road, the reconstruction of failed sections of the Zuba-Abaji road in FCT.

“Major maintenance repairs along Atan-Agbara on the border of Lagos and Ogun along the Badagri area, general maintenance of the Okene-Adogo-Ajaokuta-Itobe road in Kogi state, construction of Aden bridge between Okada and Ogbogui-Abangbe, support to Benin Double road Shagamu in the state Edo, general repairs to the maintenance of the Potiskum-Fika-Ngalda-Gombe road in the state of Yobe.

“General repairs to the maintenance of the Benin-Asaba-Onitsha double road, ie the existing road to the Niger bridge, general repairs to the Warri-Benin road in the state of Delta. The total amount of these contracts was N8, 180,948,137.50 and the council approved this memorandum on behalf of FERMA, ”he said.

Power Minister Mamman Saleh said the Council had approved two memoranda for the ministry, adding that the total cost of the projects on the memoranda was N4.7 billion.

“Today, the Federal Executive Council approved two memoranda from the Ministry of Power. One is the revised estimated total cost in the permanent infrastructure infrastructure contract at the National Energy Training Institute of Nigeria in Abuja. The total cost is 88.046 million.

“The second approval by the council is the extension of the contract for the consulting service in project management and supervision of the current construction of Zungeru on the electricity project in the amount of 3.5 million dollars and N3. “4 billion is equivalent to N4.7 billion,” he said.
