The civil service department, DSS, has warned Nigerians of plans by some elements of criminals to launch violent attacks on public places, including key and vulnerable points during the yuletide season.

According to the Service, the planned attacks were to be carried out using explosives, suicide bombs and other dangerous weapons.

National Public Relations Officer Peter Afunayan, in a statement made available to Vanguard, explained that the goal of the planned violent attacks was to create a general sense of fear among the people and subsequently undermine the government.

He therefore advised Nigerians to be vigilant and report unusual and suspicious developments around them, security and law enforcement agencies.

For his part, the Service, he said, “cooperates with other sister agencies to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to protect life and property.

“In order to further achieve this purpose, the Service provided these emergency numbers: 08132222105 and 09030002189 for emergency contacts.

“He also uses this opportunity to launch his interactive website * * for support in public communication.

“Everyone is invited to use these platforms and similar platforms provided by related agencies in order to access them in a timely manner and (security agencies) to provide them with the necessary information.

“However, the Service advises those who plan to cause chaos and damage to public peace to move away from the fact that they will not stop at anything and get caught and brought to justice.

“While ensuring the safety of citizens and residents during and after the holiday periods, the General Manager, Civil Service, Alhaji YM. Bichi with its management and staff wishes everyone happy celebrations and a successful 2021. “
