Police in Cannes have arrested 30-year-old Gambo Yakubu for allegedly posing as captain of the Super Eagles football team Ahmed Musa.

According to the statement, the suspect forged documents with the name Ahmed Musa and deceived innocent members of the public with those documents.

The statement read in part: “25. March 2020, at around 11:30 pm, a complaint was received from a Musa Muhammad from the Hotoro district, Kano, who is the director of the Ahmad Musa Sports Center, Kano, that a Gambo Yakubu from the Brigade District, Kano, a former employee of the said sports center, introduced himself. like Ahmad Musa and under that pretext he deceived people.

“After receiving this complaint, the police commissioner, the state command of Kano, Habu Sani, picked up and sent a team of detectives, led by CSP Abdulkarim Abdullahi, to arrest the culprit.

“On December 20, 2020, the suspect was arrested and freely admitted that he cheated more than 15 innocent citizens by collecting money from them, pretending to be Ahmad Musa and selling patterns to N5,000 young people who want to play football abroad.

“He raised over N700,000 and spent the money in hotels on his girlfriends in the Sabon Gari area of ​​Cannes.”

Meanwhile, the command also arrested three people for alleged criminal murder.

The suspects will be indicted after the investigation is completed, the statement added.
