In preparation for the Zonal Congress of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the southwestern caucus of the party confirmed its support for the return of Dr. Eddy Olafes led by Zonal Exco, inviting delegates from the zone to elect them.
Rising from today’s meeting in Lagos, Caucus, in a statement signed by Zone Secretary Hon. Daisi Akintan, chairman of the states of Lagos, Osun, Ogun and Ekiti, Engr Adedeji Doherty, Hon Sunday Bisi, dr. Sikirulai Ogundele and Otunba Bisi Kolawole, called on the governor of the state of Oyo, Engr Seyi Makinde, to abandon the division in the party creating parallel Exco in some states.
The statement read; “We, the members of the Party’s Zonal Caucus in the Southwest, in accordance with Section 27 (5) amended in 2017, have gathered here to discuss the fate of the Party and especially with an emphasis on putting it on a sound footing in our zone and resolving it as follows
“Let us firmly adhere to the resolution of the meeting of Ibadan on March 12, 2020, which confirms the return of Dr. Eddy Olafes as Zone Chairman, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo as Zone Secretary, believing that as mature and sincere members of the Party, resolutions and agreements are sacrosanct and must always be respected.
“As a continuation of the above, we have committed ourselves to respecting the zoning agreement, as we finally agreed at the meeting and further supporting the candidacy of Dr. Eddy Olafes and all other members of his executive or new appendages who are the leaders of the state concerned.
“To hereby instruct / appeal to our delegates to vote accordingly for all our contenders because we are confident in their ability to successfully operate the Party ship.
“To call on the Governor of Oyo State, Engra Seyi Makinde, to stop behaving like the Governor General of the Southwest Zone and give up provoking divisions within the party by establishing parallel state excos in some states.
“It is our vision and desire to see the PDP progress in the southwest zone and win the elections.
“This continuation of the above, the people on the list are approved as candidates for the elections at the Zone Congress.

“Zon ex officio are Yeye Agnes Shobajo (Lagos), Fagbayigbo Adeola (Ondo), Adesina Adeboye Semiu (Ogun), Ms. Taiwo Abiola Mubo (Oyo) and Mr. Akinade Jimoh (Osun).
