The suspected kidnapper was killed, and three victims were rescued along the Ibilo-Isua road in the village of Igarra, Akoko local government area, Ondo state.
This was revealed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the acting assistant director of the Army for public relations, Captain Ayorinde Omojokun.
According to the statement, troops of the 32nd Artillery Brigade with other security agencies prevented the kidnapping and robbery operation in the area.
“The bandit attempted to abduct three passengers in a gold-colored 2006 Toyota Highlander model with registration number AKD 55 GS,” the statement said in part.

“Seeing the troops, the kidnappers tried to enter the fight with weapons, but they were defeated due to the firepower of the troops.
“This resulted in the killing of one kidnapper, while others fled into the woods with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.”
Items found at the scene included a 350,770 JPY, one cutting bag, a 11/2 (100 mg) tramadol hydrochloride bag and one black telephone.
Meanwhile, the commander of the 32nd Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Zakari Abubakar, called on the general public to provide useful information on all suspected criminals and their hideout to state security agencies. T
