The men of the 32nd Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Akure, killed one of the six robbers in an impossible kidnapping and armed robbery along the Ibilo-Isua road in the village of Igarra in the Akoko area of the northwestern state of Ondo state.
The brigade commander, Brigadier General Zakari Abubakar, said this on Wednesday in the town of Akure, the state capital.
The army chief said troops patrolling with other security agencies came across a group of lunatics suspected of being kidnappers while bandits tried to abduct some passengers on the road.
He said, “The bandits tried to abduct three passengers in a gold-colored 2006 Toyota Highlander model with registration number AKD 55 GS.
“Seeing the troops, the kidnappers tried to enter the fight with weapons, but they were defeated due to the firepower of the troops. This resulted in the killing of one kidnapper, while others fled into the woods with varying degrees of gunshot wounds. “
Zakari noted that three abducted victims were rescued after the incident, and some items were also found at the scene.
According to him, the items found include a sum of N350,770, a necklace, a bag of tramadol hydrochloride 11/2 (100 mg) and one black Itel phone.
The commander advised the general public to provide useful information about all suspected criminals and their hideouts to state security agencies.
