Soldiers and others kill a suspicious robber, a kidnapper

Troops of the 32nd Artillery Brigade, Akure, Ondo State, in an operation with other security agencies, killed a middle-aged man yesterday, who was a member of a six-member gang of suspected kidnappers and armed robbers.

A man was killed in the village of Igarra on the Ibilo-Isua road in the state during an unsuccessful kidnapping operation and armed robbery.

The action of the security team was revealed by the commander of the 32nd Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Zakari Abubakar, in a statement.

According to the statement, the commander said: “Troops, which were patrolling with other security agencies along the Ibilo-Isua road, came across a group of bandits suspected of being kidnappers.

“The bandit tried to kidnap three passengers in a gold Toyota Highlander 2006 with registration number AKD 55 GS.

“Seeing the troops, the kidnappers tried to involve them in the armed battle, but they were defeated due to the superior firepower of the troops. This resulted in the killing of one kidnapper, while others fled into the woods with varying degrees of gunshot wounds. “

He added that after the shooting, three victims of the kidnappers were rescued, and some items were also found at the scene.

Items found at the scene of the incident, he said, include an N350,770, one small cloak, 11/2 bags of tramadol hydrochloride (100 mg) and one Itel phone.

Commander Abubakar advised the public to provide useful information about suspected criminals and their hiding places to security agencies in the country in order to effectively fight crime.
