Setting Live Wallpapers for iPhone 12: Here’s how to get an amazing new look

On an iPhone with 3D Touch, you can use a third-party application to play “Live” photos for longer periods of time on the lock screen.

You probably already know that you can easily turn photos into wallpaper on iPhone ($ 599 at Apple), but your iPhone 12 already has a lot of Apple wallpapers (829 USD on Amazon) you can install now.

The iPhone 12 comes with a host of vibrant wallpapers available for use in both light and dark modes, highlighting Apple’s vibrant design language. You can choose from blue, green, black, red and white backgrounds to match the different color options of the iPhone. Note that the default backgrounds change with each iOS update. With iOS 14.2 for example, you can choose from eight new great options.

Keep reading to find out how easy it is to download some wallpapers designed by Apple.

  1. Go Settings, then scroll down to tap Background
  2. Choose between Dynamic, Stills or Live. When you have decided which wallpaper you want, press Set button. It will allow you to add a background to the home screen, lock screen, or both.
  3. Host your eyes on new wallpapers! You can check it on the lock screen (by locking the phone) or the home screen (when you unlock the device). The fun part, at least for me, is watching the live wallpaper (or photos) in action. You can do this by tapping and holding the lock screen.

If you want wallpaper options other than those offered by Apple, there are a bunch of independent sites or apps (like Vellum, UnSplash, or even iFixit) where you can quickly download some beautiful wallpapers or photos to add that dose of personalization to your home screen. For example, iFixit releases an annual “transparent” wallpaper that allows you to unravel the intricate interiors of your iPhone – there’s already one for the iPhone 12 that you can get your hands on. And if you have your iPhone covered and looking attractive wallpapers to refresh your desktop,, here are some CNET-curated sources that do just that.
