SonyLIV’s latest production Sandwiched Forever brings much-needed fun and laughter into our lives and makes a perfect end to this year. Starring Aahana Kumra and Kunaal Roy Kapur, a 15-episode sitcom, launched on December 25, lingers on the craziest family in town and the twisted equations that connect them. Written and hosted by Kapil Sharma Bharat Kukreti, the show also stars a starring cast, including Zakir Hussain, Divya Seth Shah, Atul Kulkarni and Lubna Salim.
Directed by Rohan Sippy and produced by Studio Next, Sandwiched Forever is a sitcom about newlyweds Sameer and Naina. Their search for a “home” brings them to an apartment alongside Naina’s parents, while Sameer’s parents soon become their neighbors. From home decorations that refer to food preferences, when the saints start dictating the norms of the house, this is where the slide ride with Sameer’s and Naina’s lives begins, which are reversed in an instant. Loaded with humor, sarcasm and a flood of close life moments, this show reflects the intricate but dear connections that define all modern Indian families. Sippy offers: “Art mimics life is true and I feel that nothing inspires us more than disarming and similar stories about Indian households. “Sandwiched Forever is one such unusual depiction of an Indian family struggling to come up with their newly opened relationships.”
Speaking about the acting show Kunaal, which has worked in films such as Delhi Belly, Nautanki Sala and The Final Exit, he says: “I am attracted to sitcoms as a genre, so when I heard Nation for Sandwiches Forever, it didn’t take me long to nod. Sameer was not only an extremely entertaining and likeable character, but the story itself deals with the situation in which most Indian couples find themselves, which made it connected to the core. We had a great time filming the series and I hope the chemistry spilled over onto the screen. “Adding to that, Kapoor’s colleague tells us, ‘I enjoyed playing Naina and it was nothing short of a rebellion filming this series with such talented actors. I can’t wait for the audience’s reaction to this show.’
