Samsung’s next Chromebook can trade a 4K screen for longer battery life

Following a leaked render earlier in the week, more information about Samsung’s Galaxy Chromebook 2 was found online, including pricing details. A marketing slide shared by Microsoft consultant WalkingCat suggests that the device will feature a 13.3-inch QLED display with a wide range of DCI-P3 colors, a 10th-generation Core i3 processor, and somewhere within 12 hours of battery life. It will also reportedly feature louder speakers, a WiFi 6 connection and a slightly heavier frame than its predecessor.

For context, the first Galaxy Chromebook includes a 4K AMOLED display and a 14nm tenth generation Intel i5 CPU. This combination of components is the main culprit for the notoriously poor battery life of the Galaxy Chromebook. In his review of the 2020 model, Nathan Ingraham of Engadget revealed that he couldn’t use the Galaxy Chromebook even four hours before his battery ran out. The claim on the top slide suggests that Samsung received a note on battery life.
