Qumulo and Commvault work together to protect file data

Qumulo, a leader in simplifying enterprise file data management in hybrid cloud environments, now offers full integration with Commvault, a recognized provider of enterprise data protection solutions.

New features increase data protection and accelerate file management productivity with a single, streamlined solution that enables organizations that manage petabytes of data and billions of files to significantly reduce costs, risk, and complexity, according to the vendor.

With the Qumulo file data platform, organizations can easily and conveniently leverage the value of massive datasets deployed in local and multi-cloud to ensure data visibility with uncompromising data security and protection.

Together, Qumulo and Commvault provide customers with a reliable, cost-effective, integrated solution that speeds up the process of backing up large unstructured files, to a better data protection strategy for the organization through a simple unified workflow.

The new solution offers full integration between Commvault Backup and Recovery, from Commvault release R11.22, and Qumulo Core v3.0.0 onwards.

User workflows are simplified with a unified view in the Commavault Command Center for managing backup and restore tasks and quick real-time job status monitoring.

Qumulo Core API integration is automatically used to create, delete and compare snapshots, dramatically increasing performance and ease of use.

The integration combines the power of Commvault Backup & Recovery capabilities with the capabilities of Qumalo Protect data services, enabling customers to:

  • Manage real-time file data changes via the REST API to know in real time which files within their file datasets have changed
  • Allow backup jobs to start in just minutes instead of hours, up to 28 times faster than previously possible.
  • Eliminate slow “tree walks” to identify file changes, which often results in insufficient time to effectively back up and protect data files and jeopardize entire datasets.

“Qumulo and Commvault share a vision of simplicity, scalability and flexibility,” said Ben Gitenstein, vice president of product management at Qumulo. “Whether customers store data and back up data in the cloud or in advance, with Qumulo and Commvault, they can easily manage and protect massive unstructured datasets, enhancing their ability to accelerate innovation and unleash the power of their data, wherever it resides. . “
