French champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have sacked German coach Thomas Tuchel, French sports daily L’Equipe and German newspaper Bild reported on Thursday.

PSG have yet to confirm Tuchel’s dismissal, but are reportedly in talks with former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Tuchel, who led PSG to the Champions League final they lost to Bayern Munich in August, oversaw a 4-0 home win against Racing Strasbourg less than 24 hours ago as the club moved to a point of leading Ligue 1 Olympique Lyonnais.

The 47-year-old was named head coach of PSG in 2018 and in his second season at the club, he won two League 1 titles, along with a domestic four-pointer.

Although PSG do not dominate Ligue 1 this month as in previous years, Tuchel has directed them to the Champions League for the last 16 where they face Barcelona after finishing at the top of the group that included RB Leipzig and Manchester United.

If reports are confirmed, less than three months after the final defeat by Bayern Munich in Lisbon, the German became the first PSG coach to leave mid-season since Antoine Kombouare was replaced in December 2011 by Carlo Ancelotti.
