Chairman of the State Commission for Civil Service of Benue and former Minister of State of Education, prof. Jerry Agada is dead.
Professor Agada, an educator and author, died Tuesday morning at the Federal Medical Center, FMC, Makurdi.
Although the family of the former president of the Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, and the chairman, the Board of Directors of the National Commission for the College of Education NCCE, did not issue an official statement, but a close family source revealed that he fell ill two weeks ago.
Born on November 11, 1952 in Orokamo in the local government area of Ogbadibo in the state of Benue, prof. Agada, a career civil servant, was appointed Executive Secretary, Benue State Examination Board, 1996.
He reached the peak of his career and became the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Information, Youth, Sports and Culture of the state of Benue in 1999.
He served in the same capacity in the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Local Government and Supreme Affairs of the State of Benue and the State Bureau for Political Affairs of Benue before retiring in 2006.
He also ran for governor in Benue in 2007.
