In a new ITV documentary, host Alexander Armstrong explores the lives of some lesser-known royal members who have direct ties to the Queen herself. One of the relatives, Princess Olga Romanoff, reveals that she was shortlisted as one of the potential brides for Prince Charles.
OK reported that Princess Olga has revealed that she has been set as a potential partner for the Prince of Wales. Royal said: “I am certainly set as a potential partner of Prince Charles. They wrote an article in The Queen (now Harper’s Bazaar) about five foreign princesses who could marry a prince. “
The host asked what the criteria were for meeting the shortlist. Olga replied: “Title, foreign, breeding and maybe because I was 17 – they were all very young – innocence was good.” The princess went on to say, “God, I was so virginal … so some fields are marked that way!”

It is a long tradition of the royal family that women married to Royalty should be virgins.
The royal historian, Thomas Mace-Archer-Mills, told Refinery 29, “Rule number one before the appearance or breeding of a potential royal spouse was that she should first and foremost be a virgin,” he said. “This rule has always been strictly adhered to by women who marry older royal families – it was a condition of marriage.”
He found that this was to ensure that every child born from their marriage was the absolute next heir and that no one was the father she slept with.
Leslie Carrol, author of Royal Affairs, revealed why Princess Diana and Princess Olga are good marital options for the Prince of Wales. “Prince Charles walked with the love of his life, Camilla Shand, when they were in their early 20s and she was no longer a virgin until Charles was finally ready to ask a question to anyone,” she said. “So she wasn’t right – ‘damaged goods.'”
The ‘purity’ of Princess Diana was heavily publicized at the time. Her uncle, Lord Fermoy, went so far as to speak to The Daily Star to support her virgin status. “Purity seems to be in a good position right now when it comes to discussing a possible bride for Prince Charles at the moment … Diana, I assure you, has never had a lover,” he revealed, according to Tina Brown’s book “The Diana Chronicles” .
During the interview with Princess Olga, she revealed other interesting royal secrets. The princess said of Queen Mary, “She had some posh kleptomania because she would stay in someone’s house and sit in one of Sheraton’s dozen chairs and say, ‘Oh, I like this chair.’ And you would be obliged to give her all twelve . “
‘The Queen and Her Relatives with Alexander Armstrong’ will air for one hour on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 9pm on ITV.
