Ortom shakes the cabinet, creates a new ministry, appoints a councilor

Benue Governor Samuel Ortom on Wednesday made a small reshuffle of his cabinet and also created a new Ministry of Industry and Cooperatives.

The governor who announced the unrest in Macurdi also handed over portfolios to two newly appointed Commissioners who were sworn in two days ago.

According to Governor Ortom, the two newly appointed Commissioners, Comrade Ojotu Ojema took over from Ladi Ajene-Isegbe in the Ministry of Youth and Sports as Commissioner, while Dr. Joseph Ngea took over the Ministry of Health and Human Services after the death of his predecessor. Dr. Emmanuel Ikwulono who died in November.

He noted that the former Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Merga Kachina, had been appointed to the newly established Ministry of Industry and Cooperatives, while the former Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Ladi Ajene-Isegbe, had been reassigned to the Ministry of Trade and Investment.

The governor said the documentary cooperatives were removed from the Ministry of Rural Development to form the new Ministry of Industry and Cooperatives.

The Governor also swore in Mr. David Orshi as the new Special Adviser in charge of Project Monitoring and Evaluation.
