Okowa says goodbye to David Mark at 73 years old

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa

Governor Delta dr. Ifeanyi Okowa congratulated former Senate President Senator David Mark on his 73rd birthday, describing him as an inspirational leader.

In a statement from his chief press secretary, Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba on Thursday, the governor rejoiced over the family, friends and political associates of the former military officer and gentleman, who served the country in various capacities as military governor, minister and MP.

He said the leadership qualities of the former Senate chief were worthy of imitation, saying he was a great Democrat, a shrewd administrator and a leader of inestimable value.

The governor noted that the 6th and 7th senates were unarguably taking credit for the inspiring leadership Mark offered at the time as president of the upper house.

He added that Senator Mark, as chairman of the National Assembly, led both chambers to carry out their constitutional role of passing laws and overseeing the executive.

According to the governor, Senator Mark’s commitment to peace and stability in Nigeria during the eight years he has been the president of the Senate is unprecedented and unparalleled.

“Let me say once again that during his tenure there was a constitutional gap and he introduced the” Doctrine of Necessity “to resolve the situation.

“The Senate and the National Assembly, under your astute leadership, have made great strides, especially in the adoption of the National Health Act.

“On behalf of my family, the government and the people of Delta, I congratulate the distinguished senator, officer and gentleman, Senator David Mark, on the occasion of his 73rd birthday.

“We are looking forward to celebrating the life of great achievements in the public service with you, your family members and political associates.

“It is our prayer that God will continue to give you greater years in advance so that you may continue to serve our great nation,” he said.
