HMD Global is now ready to extend the Android 11 upgrade to two more previous phones – Nokia 8.1 from 2018 and Nokia 2.3 from 2019. Both are now in the process of receiving updates to the latest stable version of Google’s OS.
For Nokia 8.1, the first wave includes units purchased in Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Macau, Nepal, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam. 10% of units in these markets will receive an update notification immediately, 50% by April 10, and on April 12, 100% should be updated. Then, later, the second wave will cover more countries and territories.
For Nokia 2.3, the first wave consists of units sold in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hong Kong, Iceland, Latvia, Laos, Lithuania, Macau, Malaysia, Nepal, Norway, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Sweden and Vietnam. The same release logic applies as for 8.1 – 10% of units in these markets immediately receive an update notification, 50% will receive them by April 10, and 100% on April 12. There will be another wave of points in the future again.
