Nigerians will receive a vaccine against COVID-19 from the Bukhari government

The Presidential Working Group (PTF) for COVID-19 revealed to Nigerians on Wednesday that the vaccine for the deadly virus will be administered free of charge when vaccination begins in Nigeria.

PTF National Coordinator Sani Aliyu announced this in Abuja during an interview on Channels Television’s breakfast program, Sunrise Daily.

According to the coordinator, President Muhammadu Buhari has given the PTF a mandate to continue preparations regarding the vaccine.

“The president has also issued us an order to make the COVID-19 vaccine available in Nigeria,” he said.

According to him, the vaccine will be available in the country using the GAVI arrangement.

“We already have confidence that we will have 20% of the population that will be accommodated by GAVI, which is about 40 million Nigerians. They will not have to pay for that (vaccine) “, said the PTF coordinator.

The coordinator, however, noted that vaccination is not the main challenge but acceptance.

“The biggest challenge we will have with the vaccine will not be logistics, the biggest challenge will be the public acceptance of vaccine safety and allowing vaccination, the challenge will be very similar to the one we have with polio,” he added.
