The Nigerian government launched direct flights to Jamaica from Lagos on Tuesday.
This is part of an activity commemorating 50 years of good bilateral relations between Nigeria and the Republic of Jamaica.
On the first flight that took off from Lagos was Geoffrey Onyeama, the foreign minister and other senior Nigerian government officials.
Jamaica’s transport minister received Onyeama and others from Sangter International Airport, Montego Bay.
This development is expected to deepen relations between Nigeria and Jamaica in the areas of education, tourism and economic activities, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ferdinand Nwonye said.
