New variant of COVID-19 | discovered Contagion Live

This new variant, B.1.525, was discovered in Great Britain and Nigeria, and is now found in 11 more countries, including the United States.

B.1.525 is a new variant of coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19), which was first discovered in Europe and Africa in December, and is now located in the United States.

According to a BBC report, this new variant has a mutation found in both the Brazilian and South African variants, which could help the virus avoid antibodies.

To date, all vaccines tested in South Africa have shown less efficacy in preventing COVID-19. Although the Johnson and Johnson (J&J) vaccine has not been approved or approved in any country, South Africa has decided to use their vaccine. The J&J vaccine was studied last year in the country, so that’s part of the reason that encouraged policymakers to use it now.

Along with the discovery of variant B.1.525 in the US, another variant of B.1.2 was reported earlier this week, in the southern and southwestern part of the country.

However, it is too early, experts warn, to assess whether B.1.525 leads to higher transmission and more serious disease.
