Netflix enters into a Sony movie streaming rights agreement

Spider-Man (Tom Holland) meets Mystery (Jake Gyllenhaal) in Sony’s film “Spider-Man: Far from Home.”

From next year, all the films released by Sony Pictures will be shown exclusively on Netflix after their theatrical and home entertainment releases.

The deal announced on Thursday includes movies like “Morbius”, “Uncharted” and “Bullet Train”.

Netflix will also be able to host movies like “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and future Venom and other Spider-Man movies on its platform. Franchises such as Jumanji and Bad Boys are also included in the contract. Netflix will also have access to other titles from Sony’s movie library.

As part of this partnership, Sony will offer Netflix a first look at any movies it plans to stream directly or decide to license later for streaming. Netflix has pledged to shoot a series of these films during the deal.

The two companies did not disclose the length of the deal and its financial condition.
