Monaco midfielder Benoit Badiashile has confirmed that Manchester United made an offer to sign him last summer, but insists he does not regret the transfer not materializing.
The 19-year-old, who appeared on the stage for the Ligue 1 club two years ago, was offered 22 million pounds in September, according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
But France under-21s Badiashile believes it was the “right decision” to stay in Monaco – he has since made 25 appearances in Ligue 1 this season, with the club fourth in the table and six points ahead of first-placed Lille.

‘It was the right choice [to stay at Monaco]First, I haven’t enjoyed good seasons since I’ve been in Monaco, ‘Badiashile told the French outlet. RMC Sport.
‘We played to stay awake, so now I’m really experiencing the top of the table and I think the continuation of the club that formed me was the right decision and the season we have proves that.’
Then, when asked if he regretted missing out on moving to Manchester, the teenager said, ‘No, not at all.’
Badiashile made his first-team debut for Monaco at 17 in a 4-0 defeat to PSG in November 2018.
Since then, he has made 70 more appearances in the club of the principality, and now he is a regular starter in the ranks of Niko Kovač.

United have been linked with a number of different central defenders in recent weeks, including Juville Kounde of Seville, Raphael Varane of Real Madrid and Ibrahim Konate of RB Leipzig.
Braga David Carmo, Villarreal Pau Torres and Lille Sven Botman are the second central defender of interest to the Red Devils, amid speculation that they are watching a new long-term partner for captain Harry Maguire.
United have conceded 32 goals in 25 league games this season as it seeks to challenge City neighbors for the title – they are currently ten points behind the runaway leaders.
