The Afghan spinner has returned to his second campaign at Lord’s and is available for the group stage and quarterfinals if the club qualifies
Middlesex secured the return of Mujeeb ur Rahman as the second overseas player for Vitality Blast next year.
The Afghan spinner played for the club in 2019, previously representing Hampshire. They will be available for the entire group stage and quarterfinals if they arrive.
Although only 19, Mujeeb is a regular member of the global T20 track and played for Jamaica Tallawahs, Kings XI Punjab and Brisbane Heat in 2020.
Mujeeb is in 18th place T20 Player Index for Men and second in the ICC bowling standings in the same format behind countryman Rashid Khan.
“I was very comfortable in Middlesex in 2019 and I’m glad to be back to play, especially at Lords,” said the teenager who has passed seven goalkeepers in 10 previous trips to Middlesex. “Let’s hope we succeed.”
He joins Peter Handscomb as the club’s second overseas player for a new campaign.
Head coach Stuart Law added: “It’s great that Mujeeb is with us again for Blast. He is a bowler in second place in T20 cricket, behind his compatriot Rashid Khan, and brings great diversity to our attack.
“A great guy to have our locker room too, we’re really looking forward to welcoming Mujeeba next season.”
