The former national secretary for promotion of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, the head of Olisa Metuh, was released from prison in Kuja after the court’s verdict annulling his verdict.

THIS DAY Metuh left the prison around 4:46 p.m. on Thursday. Metuh was happy, according to one of his close associates who spoke to THIS DAY after leaving the correctional facility in Kuja where he had been since February 25, 2020.

“Yes, Oga just left about two minutes ago,” one of Metuh’s aides said THIS day.

He was escorted by the supervisor of the FCT correctional facilities and the head of the Kuje Penitentiary.

Metuh sentenced the judiciary to Okon Abang to seven years in prison on charges of money laundering on February 25, 2020.

However, the Court of Appeals on the penultimate Wednesday overturned his conviction on the basis of bias established against Abang’s justice.

The court also sent the case for a retrial with some instruction that it should not be awarded to Abang Justice.

Metuh repeatedly stated bias against the judge during the trial under Abang’s justice, but the court rejected his appeals, leaving him to refer to the Court of Appeals, which sufficiently determined the bias towards Judge Abang.
