- He was expelled from the Arsenal team and has not played since March
Mesut Ozil is closing his move to Fenerbahce after holding a secret meeting with club bosses in London, according to reports.
The midfielder has not played since March after Mikel Arteta decided to leave him out of the Arsenal Premier League and Europa League.
The Gunners desperately wanted to miss out on their £ 350,000-a-week salary, and the move could finally be on the cards. According to Bild, citing reports from Turkey, the 32-year-old spoke with Fenerbahce bosses in London.

The German website claims that the move would only be possible in the summer and not in January, and that the midfielder would have to cut his salary by £ 200,000 a week to sign with the Super League.
However, earlier this month, one of the members of the Fenerbahce club congress, Murat Zorlu, claimed that they had a good chance of signing the former German international in January.
He said Digital Sport: ‘A source who is very well connected with the club told me that Mesut Ozil will probably become a Fenerbahce player during the next transfer window.
‘I’d say 90 percent will join us in a month.’

Turkish newspapers Fotomac also reported that Ozil met with Fenerbahce sporting director Damien Comolli, who previously worked at Liverpool and Tottenham.
Ozil is of Turkish heritage, knows Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan well, who was the best man at his wedding, and visits the country regularly.
The midfielder previously spoke about his persecution of Arsenal amid deteriorating club form. The Gunners are 15th in the table and are only four points away from the relegation zone. They were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup by a 4-1 defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday.
Following that result, the former Ozil participated in questions and answers on Twitter.
Asked if he is currently happy at Arsenal, he said: “It is a very difficult time for everyone around the club – not just for me,” he replied.
‘The situation is frustrating for everyone. Of course I wish I could help the team right now, but until I have a chance I hope we will achieve better results again very soon. ‘

Midfielder’s agent, Erkut Sogut, has long insisted that Ozil does not intend to leave the club before his contract expires next summer.
Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, when asked if Ozil would leave in January, Sogut said: ‘Even one day is long in football, you never know. There are many clubs that are interested in him.
‘This has never changed, but neither has his willingness to fulfill his contract and play.
‘He is a man of his word, loyal, and loyalty is hard to find in this age.’
