Maura Higgins has just revealed her natural gray hair in a lock

There is nothing we love more than a celebrity who keeps him real and honest (especially when it comes to their beauty regime) – and An island of love star Maura Higgins is always a safe bet in that regard. In addition to recently opening up about her relationship with Chris Taylor, the model has just shared a few candid “before and after” hair shots on her Instagram stories.

In the pictures, Maura revealed that her gray roots grew during the lock (which is safe for many, while hairdressers still can’t work), as well as the product she swears to cover them – and luckily for us, it’s a pretty affordable option !!

Note: while it’s not uncommon for people to start graying in their twenties and thirties (or even during their teens), it’s still not something that’s talked about regularly, so we have to applaud Maura for sharing her experience with hair.

Maura presented the first photo as her natural hair color as ’50 shades of gray 😎 ‘:

This was followed by a shot after, showing her newly covered roots blending seamlessly with the rest of her hair – and revealing that the product she uses to achieve such a sleek effect is L’Oréal’s Magic Retouch Magic Concealer Spray (£ 5.99) in brown shade:

Although Maura also made it very clear that her recommendation was not an advertisement, she described the spray as a “life saver” (BRB who just adds to the cart).

As for gray hair in general, while talking to Cosmopolitan UK about why some people spot steel threads earlier than others, Anabel Kingsley, a trichologist from Philip Kingsley, said it’s mostly a matter of genetics. “When our hair turns gray, it mostly comes down to the genetic arm we’re dealing with,” she explained. “Some people will start to turn gray in their early twenties, while others will be in their deep fifties when their first gray hair appears. If either of your parents turned gray early, so will you.”

She added that it is always best to avoid plucking and graying, no matter how tempting it may seem at the time. “If you continuously pluck your hair, you run the risk of damaging the hair follicle, and this can lead to strain distortion and even permanent hair loss,” she said, before adding that vitamin B deficiency can sometimes cause early graying. Same as stress.

“Gray hair occurs when the hair follicle stops producing melanocytes (pigment cells) that give hair color,” Kingsley noted. “Certain factors can speed up this process. The most common trigger for premature graying is vitamin B deficiency – and these levels can exhaust stress.”

Three cheers for Maura to normalize gray hair! And if you want to cover your roots with L’Oréal’s Magic Retouch spray, you can buy it from Amazon for £ 5.99:
