‘Man Utd should only go for the right player, not for a panicked purchase’ – Neville sees the glass half full at Old Trafford

The Red Devils legend is encouraged by recent performances and sees no need to spend when the January window opens

Manchester United should enter the January transfer market only if a “real player” becomes available, says Gary Neville, with the Red Devils warning that “panic” is buying in the awkward window.

Patience at Old Trafford is rewarded in the period from 2020 to 21, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer overcame more questions about his future in order to fight for great honors.

Many have United in the race for the Premier League title as they share five points less than the pace with the game in hand, while progress has also been made to the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

A useful habit of grinding scores along the way was picked up, while a 6-2 win over rival rival Leeds suggests a spark has also been found on home soil.

With all this taken into account, Neville is not convinced that United should spend again.

The value is hard to find over the winter, so despite the fact that the Red Devils are still not a complete package, Solskjaer has been advised to stay away from any urge to add.

Red Devils legend Neville said of his podcast Sky Sports: “If the right player is available, then yes, Manchester United should enter the January transfer market because the team needs to be improved. But if there are no players, they will not panic, they have done somewhat better in the market in recent years.

“What I would say is that Manchester United is a confusing group, two or three weeks ago you looked like this team too and you thought it was going to be a tough old season. They left Europe, the performance in the first half at West Ham was really bad, I was there.

“But if you look at Everton’s result, the glass is half full. The line-up was used after the performance against Leeds, where they were brilliant. Six goals against Leeds, then nine changes against Everton, all involved and playing.

“Leicester is a big game on Boxing Day, but if they went there and won, they would really gain some confidence. Contrary to the one a few weeks ago where there were questions about the manager’s job – not from me, I always thought Ole should come by the end of this season as a minimum.

“But while with Goodison coming out of the pitch with a smile on his face, the fans will be happy, the players on the field have a lot of quality and if they can just get into the rhythm and start creating performance, real performance over 90 minutes there are a bunch of players with great character and quality . They haven’t merged as a team yet, but they’re getting better, they’re getting stronger and they have game winners. ”

United, who have also entered the last 32 leagues of Europe and are facing an FA Cup campaign, have seen recent shows return to their ranks and dare to dream once again as they want to bring a four-year wait for the main silverware to be completed.
