Luis Suarez shares the picture after hitting an injury in Atletico Madrid training

Luis Suarez sent a message to Atletico Madrid fans to alleviate his concerns after he suffered an injury during training earlier this week.

The Uruguayan striker, 34, is crucial to challenging Atletico’s La Liga title this season, scoring 19 goals to help his side top the table.

But with just one point separating them from Barcelona’s closest rivals, disaster hit Los Rojiblancos when Suarez gave up on muscle problems in training.

“Luis Suarez suffered a left leg muscle injury,” the club said in a statement.

“Our player, after feeling uncomfortable in training this Wednesday, passed tests with the club’s medical services, which confirmed the injury of the Uruguayan international.

“Waiting for evolution.”

Luis Suarez will miss several games for Atletico Madrid due to a muscle injury

However, Suarez has now tried to allay all fitness concerns due to concerns that he could be on the sidelines until the end of the season.

Posting his picture on social media with a bandaged leg, he wrote: “Thank you very much for the messages of support.

“Now let me recover as soon as possible and try to help the team !!!! I will never stop fighting for a quick comeback.”

It is thought that Suarez could miss most of Atletico’s matches throughout April, during which time they face Real Betis, Eibar, Huesca and Athletic Bilbao.

Suarez was already due to share the clash with Betis on Sunday, but his absence will be felt for any other games he is not on the field for, especially with Atletico’s second scorer Marcos Llorente who was also absent this weekend.

A more realistic goal is for Suarez to return at least in time for the clash with Barcelona on May 9th.

Both Barca and Real Madrid will hope to take advantage of Atletico’s unfortunate problem in the coming weeks, but they will meet this weekend in another big clash in the title race.

Madrid are just two points behind Barca and three behind Atletico, with nine games left for each team this season.
