LineageOS 18.1, TWRP and Google Camera ports

The ASUS ROG Phone 3 is undoubtedly one of the best gaming smartphones of 2020. The device marks all the right boxes with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus SoC, 144Hz AMOLED screen, 6000mAh battery, up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage. In an effort to amplify the after-sales development scene, Taiwanese OEM immediately released core resources and motion trigger unlock tools for ROG Phone 3. Moreover, ASUS’s developer program means the company goes a step further by sending selected developer units from its devices to development purposes.

Now phone owners will be glad to know that many custom events have already appeared for the device in the last few weeks, including an unofficial version of TWRP, several ports for Google Camera, and a custom ROM based on Android 11.

Unofficial TWRP

The first step required to be able to enter the modification of your ROG Phone 3 is to unlock the launcher. The next step is to flash a custom recovery image that will allow you to then flash custom ROMs or kernel images, as well as enable full system backups in case something goes wrong. XDA Senior Member aleasto was among the list of developers who got the device from us and thanks to that we now have an unofficial version of LineageOS 18.1 based on Android 11. Google Camera Login

Fans of Google Camera mode will be glad to know that several stable ports are now available for this phone. The ports, which are based on Google Camera v7.3 and v8.0, reportedly work pretty well, with little or no problems. According to the forum post (link below), you will be able to enjoy all the features of Google Camera on your ROG Phone 3 using these ports. However, you may encounter some problems when recording slow motion video.

Along with the aforementioned releases, kerissa developer Kirisakura Freak07 and kernel developer CleanSlate tbalden have also released custom kernels compatible with Android 10 for this phone. Since they both received the device from the company, it is expected that their custom cores based on Android 11 should be available for ROG Phone 3 soon.
