Traffic on Adegbola Street will be diverted from Sunday, April 11, 2021, to 15 months in order to enable the construction of the Ikea overpass for the project of the red line of mass transit of the Lagos railway.
State Commissioner for Transport of Lagos, dr. Frederic Oladeinde, announced this in a statement.
He explained that the diversion was in line with the need to preserve and protect motorists and other road users from any form of accident during the estimated duration of construction.
Although he ensured that an adequate traffic management plan was in place for the diversion period, the commissioner revealed that motorists from the computer village and Simbiat Abiola Way heading towards the Lagos-Abeokuta highway would be diverted to Akinremi Street to connect Oshifila Street to clear . through the railway crossing to the desired destinations.
They further stated that motorists from the Lagos-Abeokuta highway will be diverted to the Ikeja railway crossing to connect Balogun Street and Oduyemi Street to connect the Obafemi Awolowo road with other locations.
Oladeinde also added that a traffic advisory board will be set up at Ikea under the bridge area, at the Simbiat Abiola intersection and at the Adebola / Balogun intersections to serve as a guide and reminder to motorists who frequently drive these corridors.
