Khloe Kardashian defended her right to edit her images after a leaked unfiltered photo went viral online – saying years of analyzing and comparing her appearance to her sisters “were too much to bear”.
The 36-year-old is keeping up with Kardashians star posted a video and statement on Instagram in response to reports that her team was trying to remove the messy image of the bikini from social media.
In her video, she is wearing underwear, hiding her breasts with her hand and saying that this proves that her body is not photoshopped. “This is me and my body unretouched and unfiltered,” she said.
In a lengthy statement, the star – who is Kourtney’s younger sister and kim kardashian, and half-sister Kendall and Kylie Jenner – spoke openly about her struggle with her body image and the pressure to be perfect in the spotlight.
While the unfiltered image – which Sky News doesn’t use – is “beautiful,” she said she has a right to ask to be removed.
“In fact, the pressure, the constant ridicule and condemnation of my whole life to be perfect and to meet other people’s standards of how I should look was too much to bear,” Kardashian said.
“‘Khloe is a fat sister.’ ‘Khloe is an ugly sister.’ ‘Her father must not be her real father because he looks so different.’ “The only way she could lose weight was to have surgery. Should I continue?”
Kardashian, the mother of two-year-old daughter True, said she was conditioned to feel unattractive after years of analyzing “every single flaw and imperfection.”
She did not ask for sympathy, she said, but “to admit to her that we are human.”
She wrote that she was trying to “live my life as honestly as possible and with empathy and kindness”, adding that it was “almost unbearable to try to live up to the impossible standards set by the public for me”.
Kardashian was honest about using photo enhancements, comparing them to her nails and makeup, and said, “I love a good filter, good lighting and editing here and there.”
She said she used them to “present herself to the world the way I want them to see me and that is exactly what I will continue to do unfairly.”

Kardashian added, “My body, my image and the way I choose to look and what I want to share is my choice. It’s not up to anyone to decide or judge what is acceptable or not anymore.”
Her sister Kim Kardashian sent a message of support in the comments to her post, writing, “I love you Khloe.”
