Jupiter’s inherited trailer sets up Netflix’s next superhero series by Mark Millar

Jupiter’s legacy is coming to Netflix in May and we now have the first trailer. On Wednesday, Netflix gave us our first proper look at its next superhero series, adapted from the eponymous comic book series by writer Mark Millar and illustrator Frank Quit. In Jupiter’s legacy, the second generation of superheroes struggles to fulfill the legendary ideals established by their superpowered parents. Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Daredevil) created the Netflix series, but subsequently resigned due to creative differences, and Sang Kyu Kim (Modified Carbon, Named Survivors) took over the duties of a performer in Jupiter’s legacy.

“Don’t you remember the island and what we had to do to gain these powers?” the unseen figure says at the beginning of the trailer of Jupiter’s legacy, while we are shown a group of adults and their very old versions. “Ninety years, and what do we have to show for it?” Sheldon asks “Shel” Sampson / Utopian (Josh Duhamel). To which his older brother Walter Sampson / Brainwave (Ben Daniels) replies, “We made a difference, Shel.”

Later, Shela’s son Brandon Sampson / Paragon (Andrew Horton) asks Walter what his father was like when he was younger. “Nothing ever upset me,” Watler says. Brandon notes that “the man I knew was never home when I was a child. Too busy to save the world. “Dad later tells Brandon and his daughter Chloe Sampson (Elena Kampouris) that everything they do reflects on the family.” You have to be ideal, “he adds.

“No one can fulfill an ideal, not even Dad” Chloe responds frustratedly as we see her launch a yellow Lamborghini Huracán – a $ 200,000 / Rs supercar. 3 crore or more – in anger. By the way, Shell complains that “they” (a young superhero team building) are not even close to being ready and that they are doing everything they can to keep the family from falling apart. We see a bunch of superpowers on the screen, from superspeed, super reflexes and energy manipulation.

Jupiter’s Legacy is the first project stemming from Netflix’s acquisition of Millarworld, the comic book brand Millar founded in 2017. Millar is an industry veteran and has written some of the most famous comics, including Civil war and Old Man Logan for Marvel, which were adapted into the films Captain America: The Civil War and Logan, respectively. His work at Millarworld has also been adapted into films, including Angelina Jolie, Wanted, the Kick-Ass series, and the Kingsman franchise.

In addition to Duhamel, Daniels, Horton and Kampouris, Jupiter’s legacy also stars Leslie Bibb as Shela’s wife Grace Sampson / Lady Liberty, Matt Lanter as Shela’s closest ally George Hutchene / Skyfox, Mike Wade as Fitz Small / The Flare who is a core member of Shel’s superhero team The Union, David Julian Hirsch as dr. Richard Conrad / Blue Bolt who is also the founder, Ian Quinlan as George’s son Hutch, Tenika Davis as Fitz’s daughter Petra Small / The Flare II, Grace Dzienny as Ruby Red, and Tyler Mane as Blackstar. Anna Akana has a recurring role as Raikou holding a sword.

Millar, Quitate, DeKnight, Kyu Kim, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Dan McDermott and James Middleton served as executive producers in Jupiter’s legacy. DeKnight directed the first two episodes; he wrote both the first and last episode. Kyu Kim wrote the sixth episode. There are a total of eight episodes about Jupiter’s legacy.

Here is the official summary of Jupiter’s legacy from Netflix:

After nearly a century of keeping humanity safe, the world’s first generation of superheroes must emulate their children to continue the legacy. But tensions are rising as young superheroes, eager to prove their worth, struggle to fulfill their parents’ legendary public reputation – and demand personal standards. Based on the graphic novels of Mark Millar and Frank Quitt, Jupiter’s Legacy is an epic superhero drama that spans decades and moves in the complex dynamics of family, power, and loyalty.

Jupiter’s legacy comes out on May 7 on Netflix in India and around the world.
