Speaker of the House of Representatives, MP Femi Gbajabiamila reminded Christians that Jesus Christ, whose birth the world celebrates every December 25, is a role model for everyone.
He therefore asked Christians to absorb His teachings and also pray for continuous peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
The speaker also called on Nigerian Christians to pray for the country to overcome the myriad challenges it faces, especially the issue of insecurity.
While rejoicing with Nigerian Christians for celebrating this year’s Christmas, Gbajabiamila invited them to soak up the teachings of Jesus Christ, whom he described as a role model for all.
In his Christmas message delivered on Thursday by his media aide Lanre Lasisi, Gbajabiamila noted that Nigerians should use that time to pray for their leaders for God’s guidance.
He said the opportunity calls for sober thinking, noting that Nigerians must be the guardians of their brothers at all times.
Gbayabiamila added that, despite their different backgrounds, Nigerians “have to work to make the dreams of their founding fathers come true, who sacrificed a lot to be one.”
He said 2020 came with the Covid-19 challenge, but that with prayers and adherence to established protocols, “the country will eventually overcome it”.
The chairman wished all Nigerian Christians and other citizens a happy celebration, calling for caution during the celebration.
