James Gunn: Marvel hated Bradley Cooper’s rocket voice

Apparently some senior people at Marvel wanted the CGI character “Guardian of the Galaxy” to sound more like Bradley Cooper.

James Gunn has yet to consider Warner Bros. ’decision to move his 2021 comic book tent“ The Suicide Squad ”to the HBO Max’s hybrid theatrical edition, but this Christmas week he is using social media to shed light on his comic book film past. During a question-and-answer session with fans, Gunn revealed that he received an internal kickback while editing his favorite Marvel’s 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy over Bradley Cooper’s voice as CGI character Rocket Raccoon.

“One CEO – who is no longer at Marvel Studios / Disney – saw the early cut and said, ‘Why did we pay money for Bradley Cooper if he doesn’t even sound like Bradley Cooper !? “Gunn revealed. I was like we hired him because he’s a great actor. That’s the point! He creates a CHARACTER!”

Strange, but Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon somehow sounds like a fatter and angrier Bradley Cooper. The Oscar-nominated actor voiced Rocket in both Gunn’s films Guardians of the Galaxy, plus “Avengers: Endless War” and “Avengers: Endgame,” and will return for Gunn’s third “Guardians” trip in the future. Answering another fan question, Gunn said that his film about dream comics includes Rocket and Groot from the “Guardians” franchise, who join forces with their new CGI characters, the weasel and the shark king “Suicide Squad”.

Marvel Studios has not announced a specific production start date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 “, although the parent company Disney confirmed earlier this month, Gunn will also write and direct the holiday special” Guardians “for the Disney + streaming service.
