“It was literally a boost”: Serena Williams’ husband reveals Olympia forced him to own women’s soccer team

Serena Williams, along with her husband, recently invested in the Women’s Football League in the United States. The two recently became the owners of the Angel City football club, which will start playing in 2022 in the American Football League. This is pretty interesting because it will be the first time that the big star has shown interest in women’s soccer.

Surprisingly, Olympia, the daughter of Serena Williams, also has a stake in the franchise. So she is also the owner along with her parents and will surely raise the morale of the team.

In a recent interview, Serena’s husband Alexis Ohanian revealed how little Olympia gave him the inspiration to own a women’s soccer team. He argued that although Olympia is currently incapable of making decisions for the team, it is a valuable asset.

“We’re not ready to consult her yet,” Alexis began through a laugh. “It seems that she was a symbolic, but also quite literally a stimulus for this. Because it was her kicking around football around the house we were in, there at Wimbledon, while we were watching the finals. “

Alexis recalled how his daughter playing football at home actually made him think in the direction of women’s soccer. He even called it an ‘incentive’ for this project.

“I noticed Serena, I was like any parent, she (Olympia) wore a little Alex Morgan jersey and ran around. Like any parent, I was like that, look one day so you can play on that team. And Serena without fail was not like until they paired what she was worth. I was fine, I accepted the challenge, okay, let’s see what we can do to change that, “ Alexis added.

Both Serena Williams and Alexis want to make some changes in women’s football. They hope that the pay gap between male and female players will soon narrow. It’s certainly a great start, and the fans are pretty excited to welcome their team to the league next year.
