Xiaomi has scheduled its new product launch event in 2021 for March 29, which will be hosted in China, and a live event for global markets. The company has confirmed that it will launch the Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra smartphones at the same event, along with the Mi Notebook Pro laptop and the new MIJIA washing machine.
We expected the company to present the Mi MIX series of devices at the same event, and Xiaomi has now confirmed that. Although the company confirmed that the Mi MIX smartphone will be unveiled on March 29, it has not revealed anything else related to this upcoming device.
If recent reports are to be believed, this new Mi MIX smartphone is expected to be the company’s first foldable smartphone. As we recently reported, the device has already passed 3C certification.
For now, nothing is known about Xiaomi’s flip smartphone, but it is believed that the phone could be part of the Mi MIX lineup, which the company uses for its experimental devices. This upcoming 5G smartphone probably has a hinge design similar to the Galaxy Z Fold2, making the screen folded inwards.
Based on previous reports, it is believed that the smartphone will have a screen size of about 7 inches with support for a refresh rate of 120Hz. It could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset and have a 108MP primary camera sensor in a three-camera module. It could run MIUI 12 and pack a 5,000 mAh battery.
If the company really introduces a folding smartphone in the form of Mi MIX at the event on March 29, then the company will be among the very few brands that have a device in this category, which currently includes Samsung, Huawei and Motorola.
