The governor of the state of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, called on residents to respect the curfew from 12:00 to 04:00, which was introduced by the Federal Government, while the churches are holding crucifixion services next week.
Most churches begin their services on Thursday, December 31, and end in the early hours of Friday, January 1.
Sanwo-Olu called on religious leaders to ensure their followers adhere to protocols established to curb the spread of COVID-19 as Nigeria fights a second wave of pandemics.
The governor said this on Thursday, answering questions from reporters at the State House in Marina in Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu has now recovered from the coronavirus and says he had “moderate symptoms”.
