‘If Salah leaves, would Mbappe or Haaland want Liverpool?’ – Barnes is not convinced that the Egyptian will leave

The Reds legend reads little of the comments of the prolific striker in which he left the door open to move to Barcelona or Real Madrid

John Barnes is not convinced that Mohamed Salah will advocate a move away from Liverpool or that Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe would want to move to Anfield if an attacking role opens up.

Speculations about possible arrivals and departures to Merseyside have been re-launched after the surprising recognition of the Egyptian star.

Salah is bound by a contract with the current Premier League champions until 2023, but he left the door open for the greats of La Liga, Barcelona and Real Madrid to make offers for him at some point.

Some have suggested that the 28-year-old is ready to take on a new challenge, which is why Liverpool would need another superstar to join their attacking ranks.

Dortmund striker Haaland and Paris Saint-Germain frontman Mbappe are reportedly on the Reds’ radar radar, but Barnes does not want to be dragged into the debate based on rumors.

The Liverpool legend has told BonusCodeBets: “Who said Kylian Mbappé or Haaland would like to come to Liverpool?

“It’s a thing, just because one player is leaving doesn’t mean that one of these superstars, in this case, Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe, will probably sign as his replacement.

“These players will have to want to come to Liverpool to make that happen, and we haven’t seen anything concrete to say if that’s the case with those players.

“If Real Madrid also entered Mbappe at the same time as Liverpool, who knows who they would choose?

“It is a case that Salah leaves, who and when can get someone. But speculating who Liverpool can get when someone might leave makes no sense at all. “

Barnes believes Salah could stay at Liverpool for the foreseeable future, and the former England international has suggested that too much has been made from the alleged flirtation with the Spanish heavyweights.

He added: “Mohamed Salah is not paving the way elsewhere with these comments.

“We know he is happy in Liverpool, he plays well, and we are the champions of Europe and the League, which is also something to consider.

“People will always speculate and ask,‘ would he be open to a move? ’. Players will say yes, that doesn’t mean he’s not happy at Liverpool.

“Leaving could be something he thinks about in his future career, but I wouldn’t read too much in his comments at all.

“Players will never say anything, if he said‘ I don’t want to go and play for Juventus or Real Madrid ’, fans of those clubs then see it as a negative thing, which could be negatively bitten if in the future he should sign for one of these teams.

“These are all assumptions I wouldn’t like to read too much about.”
